I wonder
after a star burns
so long
if all the matter
carries significance
or leaves behind
one single trace
to perhaps be absorbed
by a soul in the distance

Thoughts contract
the longer the storm
cries through the stillness
far too observant
with a light that
cannot withstand the darkness

I cannot help
wandering in my unquiet
Dreaming too long
in star dazed mind
holding without release
to sparks long since spent
would leave me no choice
but to admit
offering my love
to a waning moon—
was never what mattered…
not that part of my voice…
