Blue Jay

You drift down from the tree top in a flash of blue. Landing on the ground, you spare only a matter of moments before disappearing once more into the thick branches, preferring to return to where you feel most safe. I appreciate your beautiful colour and graceful stance in a way I most likely would not if you were to make frequent appearances. Dear blue jay, you are a lovely little reminder of the importance of small steps, of the sweet, quiet songs born of tiny breakthroughs. You reveal yourself, and you return to your world behind your veil of leaves, wise enough to know that there are times when playing out one single scene is more important that telling the whole story…
