Brokenness

I feel so weary, straight through this aching soul. A change overcame me somewhere past the midnight hour—and I wish I had clearer answers as to this brokenness that has taken over my being. Sometimes though, we have to sit with our broken pieces, relinquishing that aching need to pick them up the second they’ve fallen around us with sounds too thunderous to bear. Perhaps sometimes we find ourselves engulfed in the same storm over and over again, even when the skies are calm and clear. This is where the brokenness lays around our heart, pleading to come out, for us to let go, not only in momentary increments, but thoroughly and permanently. Now I finally know what that will require—not one shard of sharpness piercing through these veins…
