The Picture of a Girl

She’s the picture of a girl who used to feel there was no hope for her to truly be seen. Recently, some adjustments were made to the colouring; some subtle changes to the lighting around her face. Her far off look tells the story of how she’s replaced what she lost forever with the elements of what never was all along…and although she’s slightly surprised to find it where she has, she is sure that a part of her soul always knew. If you spend a few quiet moments alone with her image, you will see where the brokenness appears, but something more stands out—the gracefulness of her resilience. You might understand that she exists in this way no matter where her portrait is captured—that even in the most violent of the tears she cries, she’s closer to herself than she’s been in far too long…
