How the Heart Grows

Will our hearts grow to hold
More joyful than painful memories?
The stories we’ve told
Hold more lessons, less tragedies?
Hope is never far from our hearts
Only we let it go
To battle with strength and tear it apart
Thinking eventually, it must break us
Will our hearts grow to know
What will hurt them or no?
The times we’ve tried
Be worth the glory end, from all the tears we’ve cried?
Peace is never far from our hearts
Only we touch and run
To keep steady walls and tougher skin
Thinking inevitably, peace can’t save us
And so our hearts will grow to know
There will always be pain…
The heart can’t grow
Without the rain…
