A Musing of My Spirits

Before sleep comes
The echoes leave my mind
This lovely, steady world of mine
Rivers fall away when I am not awake
Strange possessions in my mind partake
To leave me to unnecessary grief
One side of my heart waits
To hear a whisper that can never be
I find no more room for anguish
And long to lift my spirits up to love
Unaware they are still breaking
Within a darkness through which I dream
I smile at peace
Still a loyal friend
Like the air is still
To this musing’s end.
