Possession

She blinks in her sleep, non-existent
Is she aware at all?
Images refuse to still around her
This star suspended cannot fall
She hesitates even though truth separates
From deception, blind to the waking sun

Manipulation, stealing midnight out of nowhere
She aches with shallow hunger
Hasn’t midnight passed her by?
He could still destroy her
Through cold, deceptive eyes
Or quiet words causing her heart fright
She is his possession
She succumbs a second time

She fights on her knees with recollection
Does time change anything at all?
Under the weight of worlds conflicting
She tries to surpass the desire to crawl
Slowly through the space where words make her vulnerable
She willingly holds on to a wavering sun

She blinks through these scenes, moments missing
Are they moments at all?
Her own voice refuses to answer
These miles reach the same place
Where she knows no more
Where herself, she can’t face

Manipulation, stealing midnight out of nowhere
She aches with shallow hunger
Where did she lose her song?
She believes he may release her
All the while her believing feels wrong
What should she make of confession?
She’ll run away from his possession
Let her soul stay alive

Though she aches with shallow hunger

She has no choice but to survive…
