Fly High

These legs are weak beneath me,
I tremble at the sight of memory,
Holding fast to a forgotten song,
I chase dreams back to where they once belonged.

I almost believe your smile,
Reflecting who you were,
And tonight I cry awhile,
Because together can never be where we are.

You fly high,
And I keep running,
Somehow, I don’t know where I’ve been,
You fly high,
And it’s so stunning,
But your happiness breaks my heart,
Still sometimes a storm,
The winds erupt inside…

You fly high,
And I keep running,
And I wonder if I was the only one,
You fly high,
And silently I come undone,
Trying to recall words I never found,
Longing for…

I break,
I wake,
As you take another piece of me…

You fly high,
And I’ll keep running,

You turned around on what was meant to be…
